Along with playing cards, solitaire can also be played with special rectangular wooden tiles which dates back to Ancient China. These tiles which bear different hieroglyphs and symbols are called mahjong. The solitaire game which uses these tiles instead of conventional cards also goes by the same name.
The player taps into an extremely riveting activity that involves meticulously disassembling a huge mahjong structure that has multiple layers and is built on the game board. This structure can only be removed, layer by layer, by ‘matching pairs’ where clicking on a particular pair causes those tiles to disappear, and players advance to uncover other pairs. This may seem like an easy enough activity where a player simply taps a matching pair of images, but Mahjong Solitaire is more, so much more, difficult. Not every tile can be removed, rather only those that are free which involves another layer of complexity. Free tiles are those that have no adjacent tiles on the left and right and are also empty on the layer above.
Adding on to the rules, the player is given a total of twenty minutes to complete the game. Though, it is suggested that all the tiles are removed while maximizing the points all the points available. There seems to be a cap of twenty five tiles that are removed, calculating to five thousand points. Fifty points are available for each removed pair. And a total of sixty points are available as a bonus if the player manages to find the next pair within a minute.
