Among the variety of solitaire games, the “Klondike” variation is by far the most well-known. As with its other variations, it has some distinct pieces, one of which is what this flash game focuses on.
The game is played with a standard deck of fifty-two (52) playing cards. During the setup, the cards are dealt face down on seven (7) piles. Each of the piles has cards with the first pile having a single card, each piles increasing by one card, having the seventh pile with a total of seven cards. Each pile has the remaining cards set aside, which are called the stock, used throughout the game, set face down.
The game’s objective is to build the foundations with cards of the same suit, arranged in ascending order. Cards in the tableau are arranged in descending order and can be moved to other stacks, but must be of alternate colors. Only a King, or a sequence of cards beginning with a King, can be placed in the empty spaces.
There are also different names for the same solitaire games in different countries. You can now play "Online Klondike" for free, which is also referred to as "Klondike." The aim of the game is to transfer all cards from the game board to the foundation, where they are arranged by suit in ascending order starting from ace to king. Out of the 28 cards on the game board, the rest are in the stock. The face up cards can only be placed on top of one another if they are in a sequence of descending order with alternating colors. Only a king can be placed on an empty space as a single card, a sequence of cards, or a combination of both.
The player can deal cards from the stock one at a time or three at a time and this, for the layout’s sake, does not change the difficulty too much, even if it may seem otherwise at a glance.
The overall aesthetic design is above average, both icons and font sizes can be described as large and this is beneficial, even to those who do not have the best eyesight.
Supporting commands offer assists, pause, quit to menu, and cancel the last action. Though keep in mind, only the last move can be undone, so make sure to think ahead strategically about the actions you will perform. Furthermore, the time a player is given to complete the solitaire is capped at ten minutes; can you complete it in that time or even quicker?
