When you unlock a cell that has no a mine, there is a number that indicates how many mines surround the cell, otherwise there is no number and the surrounding cells that have no mines will automatically unlock. The field is divided into a square grid and some of the cells have mines. the number of mined cells is known. The objective of the game is to open all the cells that do not have mines.

The player miner uses the mouse to open cells while hoping to avoid any cells containing a mine. Losing occurs when a player opens a cell that contains a mine. Each cell that does not contain a mine, within a cell that does, will display a number that signifies the amount of cells that are ‘mined’ adjacent to it. Based on the number, a player will try to guessing the location of the mines. If a cell does not contain a mine, a ‘mined’ cells bordering a certain unmined area will open. The player can use the right mouse button to mark a cell as ‘mined’ in the hopes of not opening that cell mistakenly. The player wins the game by revealing all ‘unmined’ cells.

Game variety:

Beginner miner - playing field of 9 by 9 cells with 10 mines.
Intermediate – playing field of 16 by 16 cells with 40 mines.
Expert – playing field of 30 by 16 cells with 99 mines.
